Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi has said that he cannot “feed his children with haram income” by lying on social media.
In a viral video from a public event, Afridi was asked: “A certain segment on social media speaks negatively about you, even though you stand with our country’s true heroes. Despite your positive stance, some people run smear campaigns against you and others. What do you think about that?”
Responding to the question, Shahid Afridi said, “If I cared about such people, I would never speak the truth. I have no interest in gaining likes or views by lying on social media. My social media is not a source of income for me.”
He further added, “I cannot lie on social media and feed my children with haram income — that’s why I don’t use social media much.”
Without naming anyone, the former captain said, “There are some people who are registered liars. They used to say they would never leave Pakistan — their statements are on record — but I saw videos of them sitting on donkeys abroad.”
Afridi continued, “What I mean is that these liars are sitting outside the country while creating unrest within Pakistan. My question to them is: what kind of direction are you giving to the youth?”
Addressing those individuals directly, he said, “If you are truly brave and patriotic, then come back to Pakistan and bring your revolution here — but don’t mislead the youth, and don’t spread lies.”
