The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three individuals involved in spreading fake news and creating public panic through social media.
According to an NCCIA spokesperson, a case has been registered against the suspects for spreading false information intended to cause fear and unrest among the public.
The FIR No. 186/2025 has been lodged under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, accusing the suspects of online propaganda and dissemination of misleading information.
The operation was conducted by the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre Rawalpindi, led by Investigation Officer Inspector Muhammad Tauseef.
Authorities confirmed that the suspects’ mobile phones have been seized under a seizure memo, and the arrested individuals have been identified as Muhammad Sufyan, Rajab Ali, and Alyan Asif.
The NCCIA warned that strict action will be taken against anyone spreading fear, rumors, or chaos on social media platforms.
