Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Convener of the Awam Pakistan Party (APP), was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack. According to party co-founder Miftah Ismail, doctors inserted two stents in his heart due to blockages in two arteries. He added that the former Prime Minister’s condition has now improved, and he is resting.
According to the party’s spokesperson, Dr. Zafar Mirza, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had complained of shoulder pain on Saturday morning and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors diagnosed a heart-related issue during examination.
The spokesperson said, “Doctors provided timely treatment, after which his condition improved significantly. He is currently resting in the hospital.”
The statement also included prayers for the Awam Pakistan Party leader’s speedy recovery and requested the media to respect his privacy.
Party co-founder and former finance minister Miftah Ismail wrote on social media platform X:
“Alhamdulillah, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s health is steadily improving. He is now resting, and we pray for his complete and speedy recovery. I also thank all friends who have inquired about his well-being.”

According to media reports, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was admitted to Al-Shifa Hospital in Islamabad after suffering a heart attack.
Express News, citing hospital sources, reported that medical tests revealed blockages in two of his heart arteries, and cardiologists placed two stents to restore blood flow.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail were previously members of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), but both parted ways with the party and founded the Awam Pakistan Party in July 2024.
