A workshop owner in Lahore’s Gulberg Model Colony allegedly set a 12-year-old employee on fire, causing him to suffer severe burns, and he was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.
According to police, 12-year-old Faizan works at a workshop in Gulberg Model Colony. Today, petrol from the car’s carburettor spilt on him, soaking his clothes.
According to police, when Faizan informed the accused, Babar, he lit a matchbox and threw it at Faizan, causing Faizan to catch fire and burn his body.
After DIG operations took notice of the brutal incident, SHO Gulberg Taimur Abbas Khan arrested the absconding accused, using modern technology. A case was also registered against the accused on the complaint of the victim’s father, Shah Muhammad.
Child labour is prohibited under Pakistani law; however, due to the ineffectiveness of the law, millions of children in Pakistan, even under 10, are forced to work, and as a result, brutality towards them by the owners or senior co-workers is frequently reported.
