A shocking statement by the daughter of former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has drawn global attention and prompted action from Iranian authorities.
According to international media reports, an Iranian court has summoned Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani, the daughter of the late president, after a judicial official filed a case against her.
The case was registered following her recent remarks in which she accused the Iranian government of being involved in her father’s death.
Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani has been called to court to explain what authorities described as a baseless and unverified allegation.
In a recent interview, she stated, “Some people believe Israel or Russia may have been behind my father’s death, but in my view, government officials were involved in his killing.”
She further added that her father, Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, had become an obstacle for certain influential figures within the country — and those individuals “removed him from their path.”
This is not the first time Rafsanjani’s family members have questioned the official cause of his death. Previously, his son Mohsen Rafsanjani and another daughter Fatemeh also described his death as mysterious and rejected the claim that it was due to natural causes.
The controversy was further fueled by remarks from former IRGC Commander Yahya Rahim Safavi, which reignited debate over the circumstances surrounding Rafsanjani’s death.
Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani served as Iran’s president from August 17, 1989, to August 2, 1997, and passed away in January 2017 in northern Tehran.
