The government has announced that federal employees from Grade 1 to 16 will be eligible for a house building advance equivalent to 36 months of salary, while employees in Grade 17 and above can avail 24 months of salary as an advance.
The Ministry of Finance issued a clarificatory office memorandum stating that federal employees in Grades 1 to 16 fall under the category of government staff, whereas those in Grade 17 and above are classified as officers.
According to the memorandum, whenever federal employees apply for a house building advance, it will be provided in accordance with the Federal Government Receipts and Payments Rules, 2025.
The clarification further stated that under these rules, government staff may receive an advance equivalent to 36 monthly salaries, while officers may receive up to 24 monthly salaries as a house building advance.
