TikTok users will now be able to make more money from the video-sharing app, thanks to changes in the platform’s subscription model.
During a conference in the United States, the company announced that creators will now receive 90 percent of the revenue generated from subscriptions. However, this will be subject to certain conditions.
Currently, TikTok pays 70 percent of subscription earnings to creators, but this share will now increase by 20 percent.
To qualify, a creator must have at least 10,000 followers, their videos must have received at least 100,000 views in the past month, and they must have posted three or more subscription-only videos during that period.
According to the company’s statement, the more consistently a creator works, the more they can earn. The statement added that subscriptions help creators build stronger communities, while monthly subscription fees offer followers special benefits such as exclusive badges, subscriber-only posts, chat features, and more.
This new subscription model is currently being implemented in the US and Canada, with plans to expand it to other countries in the coming months.
Outside the US and Canada, TikTok currently shares 50 percent of subscription revenue with creators, which will be increased to 70 percent.
It’s worth noting that subscribers pay a monthly fee to access their favorite creators’ exclusive content, channels, and stickers.
