The Pakistan Airports Authority has launched a new digital, cashless payment system across the country’s airports, aiming to modernize services and enhance passenger convenience.
Under the initiative, travelers will now be able to pay for parking, lounge access, fast-track services, and other amenities through QR codes, mobile wallets, or online portals instead of cash transactions.
According to officials, the move aligns with the government’s broader drive toward a cashless economy and greater transparency in public sector operations. Digital payments are expected to streamline passenger flow, reduce waiting times, and improve accountability in airport transactions.
Airport shops and dining outlets will also adopt the system, allowing travelers to make purchases seamlessly using their smartphones. Automatic transaction records will help minimize billing errors and ensure better tracking of payments.
The digital payment rollout will begin at major international airports before expanding to regional facilities. Training sessions for staff and installation of QR code terminals, point-of-sale (POS) machines, and digital information screens are already underway.
