The body of a senior police officer from Noshki, who had been missing for a week, was discovered in the Kardigap area of Mastung district.
According to details, DSP Muhammad Yousaf Reki had gone missing last weekend while traveling from Noshki to Quetta.
Police officials said that unknown armed men abducted DSP Reki in the Kirgina area during his journey.
Security forces had launched a search operation to locate the missing officer, but he could not be recovered.
An official from the Mastung administration said that local residents informed authorities after spotting an unidentified body. Police reached Kardigap, took custody of the body, and shifted it to Civil Hospital Quetta for legal and medical procedures.
According to Kardigap Police Station SHO Ghulam Sarwar, the slain officer had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and other parts of the body.
Police revealed that DSP Reki had been abducted five days earlier, during the night between Saturday and Sunday, while he was returning home from Noshki via the Mastung–Surab route. Armed assailants intercepted his vehicle near Kardigap and kidnapped him along with his car.
Moments before his abduction, DSP Reki reportedly called his wife and told her that armed men had stopped him. Shortly after that, contact was lost. Initial investigations suggest that the officer was traveling alone, without any security detail, and had taken a shorter but deserted and mountainous route instead of the national highway. His vehicle has not yet been recovered.
Authorities said that the motive behind the abduction and killing remains unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of the slain officer was held at Fayyaz Sumbal Police Lines in Quetta, attended by a large number of civil and military officials, including Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Provincial Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gello, Corps Commander 12 Corps Lt Gen Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, and Inspector General of Police Muhammad Tahir Khan.
