Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi has responded to a letter from the Indian cricket board regarding the Asia Cup trophy, according to media reports on Tuesday.
As per reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had written to Naqvi requesting the handover of the Asia Cup 2025 trophy.
Sources revealed that Naqvi responded by stating that if India wishes to receive the trophy, a formal handover ceremony will be arranged. The ACC has informed the BCCI that the trophy can be presented in the first week of November.
According to insiders, the ACC has proposed holding the trophy presentation ceremony on November 10.
Sources further indicated that Naqvi has taken a firm stance, stating that BCCI officials may attend the ceremony with one player to receive the trophy.
It is worth noting that the Indian team, winners of the Asia Cup 2025, did not receive the trophy from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi after their victory in the final. Instead, Naqvi sent the trophy back to the ACC office.
In response to the BCCI’s insistence on the trophy presentation, Naqvi had earlier remarked that if the Indian captain wanted the trophy, he should come to his office and collect it.
It should also be noted that Mohsin Naqvi currently also holds roles as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and as Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
