KARACHI: The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has formally launched an inquiry against its former acting secretary, Dr. Naveed Ahmed, over allegations of harassment and misconduct toward female employees.
According to official sources, the action was initiated under the directives of Chairman Ghulam Hussain Sohoo after the board received multiple written complaints from affected employees.
The inquiry order states that the complainants not only submitted written grievances but also provided audio recordings and their transcripts as evidence.
The documents allege that Dr. Naveed Ahmed engaged in inappropriate conversations with female officers, attempted to exert pressure, and adopted an insulting and abusive attitude toward staff, creating a hostile and discriminatory work environment.
Further accusations include psychological harassment and misuse of authority.
Chairman Sohoo has appointed Controller of Examinations Hamza Khan as the inquiry officer, while a female principal has been included as a member of the inquiry committee to ensure fair proceedings.
The committee will determine whether Dr. Naveed’s conduct constitutes violations of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 (Amended 2022), Article 14 of the Constitution (Right to Dignity), and the Sindh Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 1973.
According to the board, the inquiry process is already underway, and the committee will submit its findings and recommendations to the chairman upon completion.
Officials affirmed that the investigation will be impartial and evidence-based to expose any potential misconduct or unethical behavior.
