Pakistani actor and creator Shamoon Abbassi has very bad reviews for the HUM TV drama serial “Jinki Shaadi Unki Shaadi,” which he was originally involved with.

He recently appeared in a famous drama review show, Kya Drama Hai, where Shamoon Abbasi discussed the casting, creative process, and production of a drama serial in bad taste.

He reveals the initial casting choices for the project, including actors like Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir, and details how the creative team was eventually changed, leading to his removal from the project despite originating the concept.

He then offers a critical review of the final drama, focusing on poor technical aspects like lighting and set design, and expresses disappointment that the realized vision was “flat” and slow compared to his original “fantasy” and “dramatic” concept.

Finally, he clarifies the writing credits, giving the majority of the comedy sequence credit to Syed Nabeel while also critiquing the director, Saif, for the poor technical execution.

According to Shamoon, the original concept was designed to be “more towards Narnia,” incorporating greater fantasy elements and being “more dramatically big.”

The story centered on a centuries-old haveli dating back to 1921, when the great-grandfather trapped the Jinn. The intended atmosphere included musical elements, older furniture, dark areas, and a Lord of the Rings feel.

The actual location used did not resemble the intended centuries-old haveli; he found it “very claustrophobic.” They noted that the same two stones or markers were utilized in roughly 12 scenes.

He also highlighted a major problem in lighting, as he said it was frequently “horrible,” “very sharp, very bright,” and inconsistent, with sudden shifts to styles like “Polly light” or “Nathu light.”

The poor lighting resulted in large shadows falling on characters’ noses. Specific scenes, such as a nighttime meeting, featured lighting that appeared rushed.

In daytime shots, excessive lighting (Polly lights) focused on actors like Wahaj caused the background to look dark while the subject was overexposed and “all white.”

Shamoon said technical deficiencies, particularly the lighting and camerawork, stemmed from the director being under pressure or having to work in a rush on the project.

The director for the final execution was Saif. While Saif is acknowledged as a director with “craft,” Shamoon expressed significant dissatisfaction with the visual and conceptual execution, citing issues with rushing, location, and technical elements.

The cameraman did not appear to be the one Saif typically uses for his characteristic “soft shoot” style.

In the recent past, Pakistani actor and creator Shamoon Abbasi recently alleged that the makers of the HUM TV drama Jinn Ki Shaadi Unki Shaadi unethically removed him as the original director and denied him writing credits for the show. He made these claims in a public social media post in late September 2025, triggering controversy around the popular show
