Australia women’s team secured a dominant 107-run victory over Pakistan in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 match held in Colombo on Wednesday.
Batting first after being invited by Pakistan, Australia posted 221 for 9 in their 50 overs. The star of the innings was Beth Mooney, who anchored the side with a brilliant 109-run knock, while Alana King remained unbeaten on 51.
Skipper Alyssa Healy chipped in with 20, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled against disciplined Pakistani bowling.
From Pakistan’s side, Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets, while Fatima Sana and Rameen Shamim took two each. Sadia Iqbal and Diana Baig claimed one apiece.
In reply, Pakistan faltered badly and were bowled out for 114 in 36.3 overs. The Australian pace attack was ruthless from the outset. Kim Garth led the way with 3 wickets, dismantling Pakistan’s top and middle order. Megan Schutt and Annabel Sutherland took 2 wickets each.
Pakistan’s opener Sidra Amin was the only notable scorer with 35 runs.
