Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, stated that the government is striving to compensate for the losses caused by floods, and surveys of the affected areas are underway.
According to details, while briefing the media recently, DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia stated that flood victims are returning to their homes. In Punjab, three rivers caused destruction due to floods, however, the situation of the rivers is now normal.
Irfan Ali Kathia said that work is rapidly underway for the restoration of roads in the flood-affected areas. There is a possibility of an increase in water flow in the Jhelum River and more water coming from India into the Sutlej River.
DG PDMA Punjab said that there is also a possibility of 35,000 cusecs of water coming into the Ravi River from India. Due to rains in the upper parts of the country, there is also a risk of flooding in streams and nullahs. A total of 11,500 staff members of the survey teams are present in the flood-affected areas.
It is worth mentioning here that large-scale loss of life and property has occurred in different cities of the country due to floods. In Punjab, the severe flooding was caused by the swelling of Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab Rivers, as a result of which thousands of villages were submerged and millions of people were displaced.
