The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has demanded amendments to U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.
According to a Palestinian source close to the Hamas leadership, the group has objected to the disarmament clause included in Trump’s proposal and has called for its revision.
Foreign media reported that Hamas negotiators held talks yesterday in Doha with Turkish, Egyptian, and Qatari officials. Palestinian sources said Hamas seeks changes to several provisions of the plan, including a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and international guarantees ensuring that its leaders will not be targeted inside or outside Palestine.
The sources further noted that Hamas would require two to three days to provide a formal response.
It is worth mentioning that President Trump had presented a 20-point peace framework for Gaza, warning Hamas of “serious consequences” if the group rejected the plan.
Key Points of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan:
Hamas fighters would be fully disarmed and excluded from any future government role.
Members willing to commit to “peaceful coexistence” would be granted amnesty.
Israel would begin a phased withdrawal from Gaza after nearly two years of conflict.
However, following a joint press conference with Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a video message that Israeli forces would remain in most parts of Gaza, and reiterated that no agreement had been reached regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state.
