A strong earthquake struck parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday afternoon with tremors felt in Peshawar and surrounding areas, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Earthquake tremors were also felt in and around Peshawar, Khyber, and Malakand.
According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5, a depth of 20 kilometers, and its epicenter was in southern Afghanistan.
The tremors caused panic among residents, prompting people to rush out of their homes and buildings reciting the Kalma Tayyaba in fear. So far, no casualties or property damage have been reported.

The quake, recorded at 12:18am PST, registered a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale. Preliminary data from the PMD’s National Seismic Monitoring Center in Islamabad places the epicenter in southeastern Afghanistan, at a depth of 15 kilometers. The coordinates were listed as 34.82°N latitude and 70.74°E longitude.
