Following the historic defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, various claims and comments are circulating on social media.
A large number of people are welcoming this agreement; however, at the same time, unverified news and rumors are also spreading rapidly.
Against this backdrop, a video has gone viral in which a unit of the Pakistan Army is shown departing from an airport.
This video is being shared with the caption that a contingent of the Pakistan Army has departed for the protection of the Holy Mosques (Grand Mosque in Makkah and Prophet Mosque in Madinah) right after the Pakistan-Saudi agreement. This claim is being widely spread, but the reality is different.
Fact Check
The unit seen in the video is indeed part of the Pakistan Army, but it is not related to Saudi Arabia or the protection of the Holy Mosques.
In fact, this military unit is part of a United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission and was departing from the airport for deployment abroad. This can also be identified by the military uniforms—particularly the caps—which indicate that it is a UN peacekeeping contingent.
