Live updates of flood situation across Pakistan 2025

At Guddu and Sukkur barrages in Sindh, there is currently a medium-level flood, while at Guddu there is an overflow of more than 4.4 million cusecs, As reported by FFD at 7 a.m. today.

At Sukkur, there is a flow of 350,000 cusecs in which the water level is rising on both sides.

At Panjnad, where the major rivers of Punjab meet, there is a very high-level flood, while at Sadhnai in the Sutlej and Ravi rivers, at Ganda Singh Wala, an extremely high-level flood has been recorded.

Karachi situation

According to Karachi Traffic Police, both sides of Tariq Road have been declared as no-parking zones where heavy rainfall will occur and there is also a risk of urban flooding.
In case Shahrah-e-Faisal is closed, Tariq Road can be used, therefore parking has been banned to prevent heavy traffic.

Intermittent rainfall

Since late night, rainfall has been continuing in different areas of Karachi, and due to intermittent light and heavy rain, the city has started presenting the scene of a pond.
According to details, rainfall is continuing even now in various areas of Karachi including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Tariq Road, Saddar, and M.A. Jinnah Road.

The areas where rainfall is ongoing include Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jamshed Road, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and University Road, while in Nazimabad, SITE area, Orangi Town, and surrounding areas rain is also falling.

Flood Situation in Punjab

Due to severe flooding in the southern districts of Punjab, including Multan, people are facing difficulties. Because of flooding in the Chenab River, preparations are underway to breach the Shershah Dyke in order to save urban populations from submersion.

Earlier, PDMA Punjab issued emergency mobile numbers for Jalalpur Pirwala, while the Chief Minister of Punjab is monitoring the rescue operation. According to the DG PDMA, helicopters are also available for aerial operations, and the safe evacuation of citizens from Jalalpur Pirwala is being ensured.

Lahore, Jhang, and Multan

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has released the rainfall statistics in the provincial capital, according to which the highest rainfall recorded so far is 92 mm at Pani Wala Talab. In Farrukhabad, 78.5 mm, at Lakshmi Chowk 69 mm, at Chowk Nakhuda and Iqbal Town 60 mm each, in Samanabad 68.5 mm, and in Gulshan Ravi 59.5 mm rainfall was recorded.

Similarly, in Shadipura 52.5 mm, Johar Town 38 mm, Tajpura 16 mm, Mughalpura 15 mm, and at the airport 5 mm rainfall occurred. According to WASA, 23 mm was recorded at Jail Road, 24 mm at Head Office Gulberg, 69 mm at Lakshmi Chowk, 25.5 mm at Upper Mall, 15 mm at Mughalpura, and 35 mm at Nishtar Town.

In Jhang and surrounding areas, the rainfall continuing since last night has increased the devastation caused by the flood, and the tent settlement established for flood victims has also submerged in water. In Muzaffargarh, the high-level flood in River Chenab persists, submerging hundreds of villages.

In Jhang, the tent settlement established for flood victims has submerged in water. Under the direct supervision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, drainage of floodwater has been completed in most areas of Gujrat, clearing a large part of the city from floodwater.

In Multan, during the past 24 hours, 2,343 people have been rescued from flood-hit areas. Overall, so far, 10,810 people have been rescued from flood-hit areas of Multan. The district administration has already evacuated 350,000 people and more than 300,000 livestock in advance.

Gujranwala

In Gujranwala, flood-affected people are waiting for relief, while police and rescue agencies remain alert to serve the public. According to the CPO Gujranwala, following a call from a flood-affected woman and the instructions of City Police Officer Muhammad Ayaz Saleem, SHO Sohdra Mukhtar Bajwa and lady police officers reached the woman’s home and provided ration and other food items.

Situation of Rivers in Sindh

Earlier, the government stated that the water situation in the rivers of Sindh is unusual; however, the Sindh government has taken timely and effective measures. All concerned institutions are monitoring the flood situation day and night and are on alert.

Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh government, district administration, and relief departments are working under a joint strategy to ensure the protection of people’s lives and property.

According to him, Tarbela Dam is 100 percent full while Mangla Dam is 90 percent full, and the water level has also risen in Khanpur, Rawal, and Simly dams. The level of Tarbela Dam is 1550.00 feet, Mangla Dam 1232.95 feet, Khanpur Dam 1980.15 feet, Rawal Dam 1750.90 feet, and Simly Dam 2314.90 feet.

The provincial minister stated that at Ganda Singh Wala and Sadhnai there is an extremely high-level flood, while at Panjnad a very high-level flood is being seen. At Trimmu, Balloki, Sulemanki, and Mailsi Syphon, there is a high-level flood, while at Ravi, Syphon, Shahdara, and Islam there is a medium-level flood. At Guddu and Sukkur, there is a medium-level flood, while at Kotri Barrage there is a low-level flood.

Sharjeel Memon said that at Trimmu Barrage the inflow and outflow is 438,097 cusecs, at Panjnad the inflow and outflow is 438,097 cusecs, at Guddu Barrage the inflow is 443,494 cusecs and the outflow 434,294 cusecs, at Sukkur Barrage the inflow is 374,800 cusecs and the outflow 359,050 cusecs, and at Kotri Barrage the inflow is 233,788 cusecs and the outflow 231,763 cusecs has been recorded.

The provincial minister stated that up to now, 141,611 people have been shifted from Kacha areas to safe places, and as a precaution against possible flooding, a total of 388,940 people have been moved to safe locations.

Flood Death Toll

According to the report of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the death toll from floods and rains this year has reached 927.

During the last 24 hours, 5 more people have died and two children have been injured. All five deceased belonged to Sindh, while the two injured children are residents of Sukkur. In one day, 26 houses were also damaged due to rains and floods, according to NDMA.

Since June 26, a total of 927 people have died and 1,049 have been injured. The highest number of deaths occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with 504 fatalities, according to NDMA.

The number of deaths in Punjab is 244, in Sindh 65, and in Balochistan 26. In Gilgit-Baltistan, 41 people died due to recent rains and floods, in Azad Kashmir 38, and in Islamabad 9.

So far a total of 7,877 houses have been damaged due to rains and floods, while 6,109 livestock have perished. 671 kilometers of roads and 239 bridges have also been destroyed, according to NDMA.
