In anticipation of heavy rainfall and potential urban flooding in Karachi, the city’s traffic police have declared both sides of Tariq Road a “No Parking Zone” as a precautionary measure.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the traffic police stated that the Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall and urban flooding for September 9 (today). In light of this, all citizens, market associations, and local management are informed that parking is prohibited on both sides of Tariq Road.

The police said this step was taken to ensure Tariq Road can be used as an alternate route if one of the city’s main arteries, Shahrah-e-Faisal, becomes inaccessible due to flooding.
The post further urged citizens—especially market associations and their members—not to park vehicles along both sides of Tariq Road to help maintain smooth traffic flow.
Earlier in the day, traffic police had reported light rain in various parts of the city and advised motorists to drive cautiously, reduce speed, and avoid sudden braking.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that Karachi will experience heavy rainfall today due to the impact of a low-pressure system currently located over southwestern Rajasthan (India) and southeastern Sindh (Pakistan).

A day earlier, Anjum Nazir Zaigham, the focal person for the Meteorological Department, had stated that the city could experience multiple heavy downpours—between four to six spells—from morning till night.
On Sunday, the Meteorological Department issued a severe weather warning, predicting thunderstorms, strong winds, and the possibility of urban flooding in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.
