PESHAWAR: In a landmark policy shift, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department has announced that obtaining a valid teaching license will now be compulsory for every teacher in the province.
According to official documents, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department will establish a regulatory body with an allocation of Rs200 million to oversee the system.
The body will be responsible for issuing licenses, enforcing standards, and ensuring that only licensed and registered individuals are allowed to teach in schools across KP.
The licensing framework will include clearly defined Terms of Reference (TORs), and teachers will be required to meet specified professional standards to qualify.
Moreover, license renewal will be linked to performance evaluations, making teaching quality a central component of the system.
Officials said the move is aimed at raising educational standards, improving accountability, and ensuring that students across KP receive instruction from qualified professionals.
