KARACHI : The Karachi Traffic Police have announced that starting October 1, traffic violations on major city roads will be monitored through advanced cameras, with electronic challans (e-challans) sent directly to violators’ residential addresses.
According to a police spokesperson, each e-challan will include photographic evidence of the violation.
Motorists will be required to clear fines within 21 days, while a 50 percent discount will be offered for payments made within 14 days.
The traffic police further stated that if fines remain unpaid beyond 21 days, the penalty amount will be doubled. In cases where payments are not made within three months, the driver’s license will be suspended. As an additional measure, failure to clear dues within six months will result in the blocking of the violator’s computerized national identity card (CNIC).
Officials said the system aims to enforce traffic laws more effectively and promote discipline among citizens to improve traffic flow in the metropolis.
