Hollywood stars Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Jonathan Glazer, and Alfonso Cuarón have signed on as executive producers for Kaouther Ben Hania’s “The Voice of Hind Rajab”, the Gaza-set drama ahead of its debut in the world during its Venice Film Festival premiere on September 3.
Produced with the backing of Film4 and Saudi-owned MBC Studios, the film recasts the murder of six-year-old Hind Rajab, whose slaying in Gaza brought international attention. Independent investigations refuted Israeli denials of the presence of troops, with satellite imagery and forensic work suggesting Israeli tanks were close to the car of the family, subsequently discovered full of bullet holes.
The film is Ben Hania’s sequel to her Academy Award-nominated Four Daughters and previous Academy Award contender The Man Who Sold His Skin. The film is produced by Nadim Cheikhrouha, Odessa Rae, and James Wilson. It features Saja Kilani, Motaz Malhees, Clara Khoury, and Amer Hlehel.
