JHELUM – Religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has been arrested in Jhelum, with authorities confirming administrative orders as reason behind the move.
According to officials, Mirza was taken into custody under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) on the directives of the Jhelum deputy commissioner. The MPO law allows detention of up to three months as a preventive measure to maintain public peace.
In parallel, media sources reported that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) raided Mirza’s academy in Jhelum after receiving a complaint filed a day earlier. Acting on the application, NCCIA officials placed him under arrest.
Following the operation, Mirza’s academy was sealed and its premises locked to prevent any gatherings or activities.
While authorities have yet to issue a formal statement clarifying the charges, the arrest has sparked intense debate online.
