The Meteorological Department has forecast a powerful spell beginning on August 27, with the port city expected to remain heavily overcast and likely to receive light rain in the evening.
Late last night, several parts of the city experienced both light and heavy showers. The situation on roads remains poor since the rains five days ago, with water still standing in several places, and potholes appearing on Patel Para Road.
According to the Met Office, Karachi will remain cloudy throughout the day. Despite the weakening of the current monsoon system, most of the city is expected to stay overcast with chances of light showers.
The Early Warning forecast suggests light rain in Karachi from today through Tuesday. On Sunday and Monday, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy, while Tuesday may record cloudy and humid weather.
Today’s temperature in Karachi is 29°C, with a maximum expected between 31°C and 33°C. Humidity stands at 85 percent, while southwesterly winds are blowing at 15 km/h.
In Tharparkar, Badin, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, and surrounding areas, strong winds with thunder and heavy rain may occur. In Qambar Shahdadkot, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Ghotki, moderate to light rain with thunderstorms is expected.
Guddu Barrage is experiencing high-level flooding, while Sukkur and Kotri Barrages are recording medium and normal flows, respectively.
It is noteworthy that another monsoon spell has been forecast for Karachi starting August 27.
