Armed robbers stormed the Defence Phase V residence of senior Sindh Police officer SSP Tauheed Rehman Memon and Sindh government spokesperson Syeda Aqraba early Saturday, holding the family hostage before fleeing with cash, jewellery, and foreign currency worth more than Rs20 million, police said.
According to the FIR, five masked men overpowered the on-duty guard and barged into the house around 5 a.m.
The gang ransacked the residence for nearly half an hour, looting US dollars worth Rs9 million, Rs1 million in cash, gold jewellery valued at Rs11 million, and a mobile phone, before warning the hostages not to resist.
The case was registered at Darakhshan Police Station under Section 395 of the Penal Code, and the investigation has been handed over to the specialised crime unit.
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the incident, directing the South Zone SSP to submit an immediate report.
He ordered investigators to review CCTV footage, strengthen intelligence at the district level, and ensure swift arrests.
