The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has introduced a new mobile application, “Digital Disaster Compensation Management”, to facilitate compensation for those affected by floods in the districts of Buner, Swat, and Bajaur.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur formally inaugurated the application, which was developed on an emergency basis by the KP Information Technology Board. The app has also been integrated with the provincial government’s central service delivery platform, Dastak.
Through this app, flood-affected individuals can upload details of damages to their properties and submit compensation claims. Payments will then be transferred directly to the victims’ bank accounts online.
During a briefing, it was explained that the app operates on a transparent and automated mechanism. With features such as geo-tagging and automated verification, the system eliminates the possibility of false information or fraudulent claims.
A dedicated dashboard will provide the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and relevant authorities with complete details of damages and compensation disbursements.
Speaking at the launch, CM Gandapur said that the introduction of a digital payment system for direct compensation was a significant step. He praised the relevant authorities for developing the application in record time, emphasizing that it would not only ensure timely disbursement of payments but also guarantee complete transparency.
He added that providing immediate relief and facilities to the flood-affected communities remains the provincial government’s top priority.
Recent heavy rains and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since August 15 have caused widespread devastation. As a result of cloudbursts and flooding, 325 people have lost their lives while 156 have been injured, with Buner being the hardest-hit district, where 217 fatalities have been reported.
Following the Chief Minister’s directives, emergency relief funds have been released for the worst-affected districts. A total of Rs. 500 million has been allocated for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
According to the report, Buner has been allocated Rs. 150 million, while Bajaur, Battagram, and Mansehra will each receive Rs. 100 million.
Similarly, Rs. 50 million has been allocated for Swat to ensure immediate assistance reaches the affected families.
