In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the death toll from the recent floods has reached 332, while in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, 12 and 9 people have lost their lives, respectively. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Buner is the worst-hit district, where 208 people have died in the past 48 hours.
Earlier, heavy rains and cloudbursts caused floods in several districts including Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Swat, Bajaur, Battagram, Lower Dir, and Abbottabad, killing more than 200 people. In Buner, 120 people were injured and 50 remain missing.
According to the PDMA report, 37 deaths were reported in Shangla, 23 in Mansehra, 22 in Swat, 21 in Bajaur, 15 in Battagram, 5 in Lower Dir, and one child in Abbottabad.
The floods also inflicted severe damage on infrastructure. Eleven houses were completely destroyed and 63 partially damaged. Three schools were affected in Swat and Shangla. In Mohmand, a provincial government helicopter crashed during a relief operation, killing five crew members.
