The central ceremony for Independence Day and the Victory of the Rightful Cause was held at the Sports Complex Pavilion, during which the armed forces performed a march-past.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the chiefs of all three armed forces attended the ceremony. Members of the federal cabinet, members of the National Assembly and Senate, and ambassadors of friendly countries, along with a large number of citizens, also participated in the event.
A spectacular march-past was performed by the music band comprising all three armed forces, while disciplined contingents of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, and Pakistan Air Force, including Punjab Rangers and FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also took part in the march-past.
Commandos of the Special Services Group also demonstrated a march-past at the Independence Day and Victory of the Rightful Cause ceremony. Troops from the armed forces of Turkey and Azerbaijan also performed a march-past.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled a model of the Victory of the Rightful Cause memorial.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced the formation of the Army Rocket Force Command. He stated that the formation of the Army Rocket Force Command is an important milestone in combat capability, and this force has the ability to target the enemy from all directions.
