The Punjab Education Department has announced an extension of summer vacations across the province.
Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, confirmed that all schools will now reopen on September 1, instead of the earlier scheduled date of August 15.
He stated that the decision was taken due to the ongoing hot and humid weather conditions.
Earlier, departmental sources had indicated that an extension until August 31 was under consideration due to intense heat. The minister had also mentioned that consultations were underway regarding the matter, and a final decision would be made soon.
It is noteworthy that while intermittent rainfall continues in some parts of Punjab, the weather remains extremely hot and humid in areas without rain. Authorities have taken these conditions into account before deciding to delay the reopening of schools.
