After the successful trial of the Orange Line Train in Lahore, another major advancement in public transport has taken place with the successful test run of Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art urban electric train, the Super Autonomous Rapid Transit (SRT).
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif personally monitored the road test of this unique urban electric train from Ali Town to Muslim Town and also assessed its performance amidst regular traffic.
The Chief Minister inspected the SRT, equipped with modern facilities, and expressed satisfaction over the air-conditioned coaches and other amenities. Transport Minister Bilal Akbar gave a detailed briefing regarding the train, stating that it is a fully electric train that can travel up to 40 kilometers on a single charge.
This modern train consists of 3 coaches with a capacity of 320 passengers, and it can be expanded to 4 coaches. The train has been manufactured by the Chinese company Norinco International and is also successfully operating in countries like Turkey, China, Abu Dhabi, and others.
On this occasion, Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that every day now brings good news for the people of Punjab. The SRT will not only reduce environmental pollution but also improve traffic flow.
The Chief Minister of Punjab informed that with the launch of the SRT, the beauty of Lahore will enhance, and similar trains will soon be launched in Faisalabad and Gujranwala as well.
