In a major win for Pakistan in sports diplomacy, Khalid Mahmood has been elected to the Board of Directors of Asian Boxing, defeating India’s Ajay Singh by a margin of 18 to 9 votes. The election was held during the Asian Boxing Congress in Thailand.
Khalid Mahmood, who also serves as Secretary General of the Pakistan Olympic Association, will now represent Pakistan at the Asian Boxing Board level.
Pakistan Boxing Federation President Lt. Col. (retd) Nasir congratulated Mahmood on the victory, calling it a proud moment for the country. He said Pakistan’s success against India reflects growing confidence in the country’s sports leadership at the Asian level.
He further added that Pakistan’s inclusion in the Asian Boxing Board will enhance regional cooperation and mark another step forward in strengthening Pakistan’s position in international sports through positive image-building and effective sports diplomacy.
