The double murder case in Degari, Balochistan has taken a new turn as the children, sister, and aunt of the victim, Bano Bibi, have come forward with startling revelations.
Earlier this week, a video emerged of a woman and a man being shot dead in another honor killing incident in Balochistan.
In the video a group of people are seen arriving in a deserted area on the outskirts of Quetta, the provincial capital in an SUV and pickup trucks. The woman and man are taken out of one the vehicles, and being shot on the spot.
According to the family, Bano Bibi had realized her “mistake” and wanted to take her own life, but she was allegedly coerced into fleeing by a man named Ihsanullah.
Speaking to the media, Bano Bibi’s elder son said that his mother neither cried nor showed fear, but gave her life with courage. He added that before leaving, she told them to “take care of your father and yourself.” Her six-year-old son, Zakir Ahmed, innocently said, “Mama has gone for Hajj.”
The victim’s sister and aunt revealed that Bano Bibi felt deep remorse and shame in front of her family and tribe, and even requested a pistol to end her life, but was forced to escape instead.
Amidst widespread speculation on social media, the victim’s elder sister strongly rejected the narrative being pushed by some media outlets suggesting it was a “love marriage,” calling it false and contrary to facts.
Identification documents of the deceased Bano Bibi and her husband Noor Muhammad have also surfaced. According to the records, Bano Bibi was 40 years old and Noor Muhammad was 38. Their children are named Noor Ahmed (15), Basit Khan (14), Bibi Fatima (10), Bibi Sadiqa (7), and Zakir Ahmed (6).
According to police sources, two suspects have been placed on ten-day physical remand, while the victim’s mother has also been arrested and handed over to the Serious Crimes Investigation Wing on a two-day remand. Further proceedings are ongoing in court.
