Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has introduced the “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” in the city.
It should be noted that “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” is a mobile application launched by the Pakistani government, specifically the Ministry of Power, to enable consumers to submit their own electricity meter readings. This initiative, part of the broader “Power Smart” app, aims to enhance transparency in billing, reduce overbilling, and empower consumers by allowing them to self-report their meter readings.
A spokesman for FESCO said on Wednesday that the “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” initiative is a groundbreaking program launched by the Government of Pakistan to promote consumer empowerment and enhance transparency in electricity billing.
The program allows consumers to submit their electricity meter readings through the “Power Smart App,” available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. After registering with their consumer ID and other required details, users can upload a photo of their meter reading on a specified date. This user-submitted photo will take precedence over readings taken by the distribution company within the same billing cycle.
The submitted reading will be considered final and used to generate the monthly electricity bill. The bill will also include the photograph as verification, marked under the “Apna Meter Apni Reading” label. The spokesman emphasized that the program is helping reduce overbilling, minimize reading errors, and prevent billing delays, thereby improving service reliability.
