The heavy downpour in Lahore this morning turned the city’s roads into ponds. Low-lying areas have been submerged, and the movement of cars and motorcycles on the roads has been severely affected.
According to details, the rain in Lahore has flooded roads in low-lying areas, and many cars and motorcycles have stalled in the water.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that rainfall continued in Lahore for 4 hours and 14 minutes, with 178 millimeters recorded so far, the highest being in Nishtar Town.
According to the department, light to heavy rain is still ongoing in various parts of Lahore even after 8 hours, and light rain is expected in the next 24 hours as well.
In this regard, DG PDMA Irfan Ali has instructed deputy commissioners across the province to stay alert. He stated that the provincial control room and all district emergency operation centers are on alert, and the PDMA control room is monitoring the situation 24/7.
DG PDMA further said that this monsoon spell is expected to continue until July 13. Citizens should take precautions and stay away from electric poles, hanging wires, mud houses, and dilapidated buildings.
Meanwhile, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari stated that it has been raining continuously in Lahore for a long time. WASA and district administration teams are present in the field. All underpasses in Lahore are clear, although drainage work is ongoing in some low-lying areas.
