Government of Punjab has intensified the ongoing crackdown against the holding of illegal wild animals without valid licenses as the Punjab Wildlife Department conducted a major enforcement operation on Tuesday in Faisalabad, seizing a rare white tiger and an African lion cub.
“The latest seizure was carried out by the Faisalabad unit following a credible tip-off,” Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Dr. Ghulam Rasool said.
He further confirmed that the confiscated animals, both classified as rare and exotic species, were being kept without the necessary legal documentation.
The white tiger has since been transferred to the Lahore Safari Zoo, while the African lion cub is being relocated to a secure government-managed facility. Legal action has been initiated against the offenders under the provisions of the Punjab Wildlife Act.
Authorities also disclosed that over 20 lions, tigers, and leopards have been recovered from various locations across the province since the launch of the crackdown. All rescued animals have been moved to appropriate facilities where they will receive proper care and supervision.
