The Government of Sweden announced on Monday the resumption of visa services in Islamabad, following the Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and Sweden, held in Stockholm on July 2.
According to a press release issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this decision will facilitate Pakistani citizens intending to visit Sweden for short stays.
“The Government of Pakistan welcomes this positive development, which reflects the continued strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries,” the Foreign Office spokesperson said.
The 19th round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Sweden was held in Sweden on 01 July 2025. Ambassador Muhammad Ayub, Additional Secretary (Europe), led the Pakistani delegation while the Swedish side was headed by Ambassador Mikael Lindvall.

Effective July 7, Pakistani nationals will be able to apply for a Schengen visa from within Pakistan for visits to Sweden of up to 90 days.
The Pakistani delegation at the Bilateral Consultations in Stockholm was led by the Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe), while the Swedish delegation was headed by the Director General for Global Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden.
