Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, is being held in solitary confinement in a death cell at the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleged on Monday.
PTI Central Information Secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, raised these concerns during a press conference, claiming that Khan had been placed in a death cell even before his conviction. “Imran Khan has been kept in solitary confinement in a cell designated for terrorists,” he said.
Akram further alleged that Khan’s legal rights were being obstructed. Despite a court ruling allowing six individuals to meet him, authorities had reportedly denied these meetings.
“The court’s orders are being ignored. Even Imran Khan’s wife has been denied access to him twice, with no explanation given,” he added.

PTI has filed a contempt of court petition over these restrictions. “To meet Imran Khan, one must now approach the court, yet even after filing the petition, visits are still being blocked. Political associates, family members, and even the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being denied access,” Akram asserted.
