Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) narrowly avoided a major accident after an engine malfunction and a complete tire blowout during an aborted takeoff at Dubai International Airport.
The Airbus A320, carrying 172 passengers on a flight from Dubai to Multan, experienced an engine failure warning while accelerating on the runway.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the captain immediately activated the emergency braking system, bringing the aircraft to a safe stop.
However, the sudden deceleration caused all the tires to burst. Fortunately, all passengers were safely evacuated and escorted to the airport lounge.
PIA has dispatched an engineering team from Karachi to Dubai to address the technical issues. The airline has assured that a full investigation will be conducted, reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety.
Earlier, another PIA flight from Muscat to Peshawar was diverted to Karachi after a hydraulic failure was detected.
