Protesters in Bannu, enraged by prolonged power outages, stormed a grid station late Monday night. According to a spokesperson for the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), over 500 protesters forcefully took control of the station after driving out the company’s staff.
The protesters then turned on 23 feeders to restore power supply and allegedly threatened to return with 10,000 to 15,000 people if they faced resistance in the future.
The spokesman noted that the feeders connected to the station were high-loss feeders, leading to extended load management durations. He also mentioned that PESCO is pursuing legal action against the protesters.
