KARACHI: The Sindh government has received an amount of Rs41 billion under the court order in the Bahria town case. The court had directed the management of the private housing scheme to deposit the amount in installments.
According to the details, on the order of the court, the Sindh government has received an amount of Rs41.259 billion in the Bahria town case. After the court orders, the State Bank of Pakistan transferred the money deposited in the Supreme Court to the account of the Sindh government.
The Supreme Court had ordered the Bahria Town administration to submit the amount in installments to the court for the alleged corruption in the private housing scheme. More than Rs41 billion deposited by Bahria Town has been given to the Sindh government.
It should be remembered that earlier the Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued a notice to the Sindh government on the request of Bahria Town in the Bahria Town project implementation case.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab heard the Bahria Town Karachi execution case. During the hearing, the court issued a notice to the Sindh government on the request of the federal government.
Earlier, Vakil Bahria Town said that the land sold by the Malir Development Authority should be re-demarcated. Lawyer Bahria Town said that MDA has taken possession of 12,000 acres out of 16,000 acres.
Lawyer Bahria Town said that MDA says that Bahria Town should surrender 4,000 acres of land. Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan remarked that if the Sindh government wants land, it should acquire it according to the law.
