ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have issued show-cause notices to their 2 senators and asked them to answer why the anti-election resolution was allowed to be passed.
According to the details, show-cause notices were issued to Senator Bahramand Tangi from PPP and Senator Gardeep Singh from PTI. The parties of both the senators have demanded several times to hold the elections early, but the senators could not stop the approval of the resolution.
PPP issued show cause notices to its senator Bahramand Tangi, while Tehreek-e-Insaf asked its senator Gardeep Singh to respond within 3 days. Both the political parties have asked their respective senators for a written response on the issue of the resolution.
It should be noted that earlier during the Senate session, the resolution to postpone the general elections was approved by a majority vote. During the meeting of the upper house, a detailed discussion was also given on the resolution.
Yesterday, Independent Senator Dilawar Khan, while presenting a resolution to postpone the general elections held on February 8 across the country, said that there has been terrorism in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The resolution said that there were attacks on security forces in two provinces of the country, Balochistan and KPK, where the security situation is bad. Leaders like Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mohsin Dawar were also attacked.
Aimal Wali Khan has received concern and other political leaders have received threats. The resolution further said that a favorable environment is necessary for holding the election. The Health Department is showing fear of the spread of Corona. Equal rights should be given to conduct election campaigns.
