X, formerly known as Twitter, is introducing a new feature that enables users to share their community posts with all of their followers. This functionality is akin to posting a message in a Slack channel accessible to the entire community.
An announcement from an X engineer revealed that the feature is currently accessible to iOS users, with availability on the web and Android expected soon. Users interested in broadcasting a community post can select the “Also send to followers” option during the community post creation process. The shared post will be visible on the poster’s profile.
Given that communities on the platform are public, any user can view the post; however, only members of the community can respond directly. To engage with a broadcasted community post, users can quote it. It remains uncertain whether X will provide communities with the option to block broadcasts.

In recent months, X has focused on enhancing communities and introducing new features to better compete with platforms such as Reddit and Facebook. Updates include the ability to sort posts in pinned communities, showcase communities on user profiles, and allow private accounts to join communities.
In October, X implemented a gatekeeping feature enabling admins of restricted communities to pose questions to potential members before joining. Admins can then decide whether to admit individuals based on their responses.
While community creation on X was previously limited to Premium accounts, the company expanded this capability to users in Japan in October. Additionally, the social network has been incorporating posts from joined communities into the algorithmic feed (“For You”) for the past few months.
