Hamas’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, has said it is capable of fighting off an Israeli land invasion of Gaza.
“We reassert our readiness – with God’s help – in the defense aspect. And the enemy’s suggestion of widening the aggression via land will push us to activate new options that will mount massive losses on the enemy,” spokesperson Abu Obeida said in a video message released on Friday.
He added that Hamas’s military infrastructure enables an “effective defense” of the Gaza Strip that Israel has not witnessed before.
Israel has been amassing troops and military equipment outside the Palestinian territory, but so far, Israel has only been bombing Gaza from the air relentlessly.
Meanwhile, a Hamas official says that the UN statement warning that Israel has told people in northern Gaza to leave to the south of the enclave is “fake propaganda”, and has urged Palestinians in Gaza not to fall for it.

The Israeli military has told civilians in Gaza City to leave their homes and evacuate to the south and has said it will conduct significant military operations there in the coming days.
It should be noted that the United Nations said early on Friday it had been told by the Israeli military that some 1.1 million Palestinians in Gaza should relocate to the enclave’s south within the next 24 hours.
