Islamabad Police arrested rights activist Imaan Mazari outside the Adiala Jail after she was released after being granted bail.
Police arrested Mazari in another case registered at the Bara Kahu police station. A large contingent of police arrived outside Adiala Jail and took her into custody after she was released.
According to reports, Mazari will not be released without addressing a press conference.
Earlier today, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted post-arrest bail to rights activists Imaan Mazari and Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement leader Ali Wazir in a sedition case.
ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain heard the plea and approved the post-arrest bail of Imaan and Wazir against surety bonds of Rs30,000 each. They were accused in a case of making provocative speeches against state institutions at a rally.
On August 19, two first information reports (FIR) were registered against Imaan and Wazir at the Tarnol police station and Counter-Terrorism Department police station. Both were booked on the charges of sedition, preventing government officials from carrying out their duties and damaging public property.
Earlier last week, the court put off the bail plea and handed Imaan Mazari and Ali Wazir to police on 3-day physical remand.
Iman Mazari, the daughter of former federal minister Shireen Mazari, and former MNA Ali Wazir appeared in court after a case was registered against them under terrorism provisions.
The prosecutor requested 10-day physical remand for the accused. However, the court rejected the request and handed over to police custody for three days.
