ISLAMABAD: The caretaker government has imposed a ban issuance of new arms licenses.
The ban was imposed on the directions of Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti after formally assuming charge.
Secretary Interior Syed Ali Murtaza along with officials welcomed the 47th Interior Minister minister on his arrival at the ministry. He was given a detailed briefing about the ministry, its functioning and the attached departments.
During the meeting, the minister vowed to tackle the challenge of terrorism and ensure the security of state and its citizens. He said that the protection of every citizen is the responsibility of the state.
We will frame a strategy for the protection of lives, rights, and properties of all citizens regardless of their religious or ethnic identity, he said.
He added the tragic Jaranwala incident was against the teachings of Islam and extremely shameful, adding no one would be allowed to take the law in their hands.
He said every citizen’s free movement was protected under the law and Constitution and all stakeholders would ensure it. The minister warned the officials that corruption would not be tolerated at any level.
