A team of expert doctors at the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology has successfully performed heart surgery on adults and children without chest compressions.
For the first time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a successful operation of its kind was performed at PIC. Spokesperson PIC Rafat Anjum said the 17-year-old patient’s heart valve was replaced without a cut, as the valve that supplied blood to his lungs had stopped working.
Prof. Dr. Ejaz said that the patient had undergone three heart surgeries in Pakistan and India. After the surgeries, the patient’s lungs stopped working.

Prof. Dr. Ijaz said that there were open-heart and no-cut surgery options to replace the patient’s heart valve, and the patient’s risk was higher in open-heart surgery.
PIC, Lady Reading Hospital, United Kingdom, and eminent Pakistani cardiologists from the United Arab Emirates participated in the no-cut surgery.
