ISLAMABAD: The senior leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has given mixed reaction to the statement by media wing of the armed forces, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), about party chairman Imran Khan.

Former PTI Minister Asad Umer has supported the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in taking legal action over the assassination attempt on party Chairman Imran Khan.

Totally agree with ISPR that a legal recourse should be taken to resolve the allegations . Imran khan has tried to do that by filing an FIR and approaching the supreme court. The institution supporting that legal recourse would be a very positive step forward #BehindYouSkipper

This came after the ISPR warned of legal action over Imran Khan’s baseless allegations against a serving military officer, which he made during a rally. Imran Khan had said that General Faisal Naseer would be responsible if something happened to him.

The ISPR reacted sharply, stating that Imran Khan had made false allegations without evidence and asking him to stop spreading propaganda. Asad Umer agreed that legal recourse should be taken to resolve the issue.

It is noteworthy that despite repeated efforts by Imran Khan and the PTI-led government in Punjab, an FIR about the assassination attempt on his life in Wazirabad on November 3 was not lodged. The local police instead filed the case.

Reacting to the ISPR’s statement, senior PTI leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain called for a transparent and independent investigation to ensure that the allegations are not true.

He expressed concern that the denial of investigations and such a press statement suggest a belief that some individuals are above the law in Pakistan, which is destructive to the nation.
