RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has accused the former chief justice of the Supreme Court of halting work on a kidney and liver transplant hospital in Lahore.
He made the allegations during his visit to the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation (RIUT), where he emphasized that no one should be allowed to politicize government projects.
The Prime Minister expressed his concern that the discouragement of development and social work negatively affects the provision of civic facilities for the general public. He emphasized that development projects, particularly those relating to health and education, must not be politicized and should be implemented in the best interest of the people.
PM Shehbaz Sharif accused former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar of promoting politics under the guise of justice by obstructing several projects initiated by the previous PML-N government.
Sharif also stressed the need for unity in the proper implementation of the Constitution of Pakistan. He urged all stakeholders to work together for the betterment of the country.
It is worth mentioning that the Shehbaz government has been reluctant to implement the Supreme Court’s order of holding elections in Punjab and KP within 90 days after the dissolution of assemblies, as set by the Constitution. This has caused controversy and raised questions about the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.
