Pakistan’s pacer Shaheen Afridi has made a playful jab at former pacer Shoaib Akhtar for his criticism of Babar Azam’s English communication abilities.
Shaheen was asked what aspect of Akhtar he admires the most during an interview with a local media outlet.
The pacer responded by saying, “He [Akhtar] makes brands very well (Brand ache se banate hain).”
This assertion was an obvious allusion to Akhtar’s earlier remarks on Babar made on a local TV station, in which he said that the Pakistan skipper needed to improve his communication skills if he wanted to become a brand in international cricket.
“Cricket is one job and handling media is another job. If you can’t speak, I am sorry but you won’t be able to express yourself on the TV,” Akhtar said.
“I want to openly say this that Babar Azam should be the biggest brand of Pakistan, but why he hasn’t become the biggest brand in Pakistan? Because he can’t speak,” he added.
