ISLAMABAD: Former President and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairperson, Asif Ali Zardari, has claimed that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition had planned the ouster of former Prime Minister Imran Khan led government after coming to know about their intentions to remain in power until 2035 by selecting an army chief of their choice.
In an interview to private TV channel last night, Zardari urged all political parties to collaborate and decide on a date for the next general elections in the country. He suggested that the elections should be held simultaneously across the country. Zardari clarified that his party had no objection to holding elections but only had concerns about the timing.
Referring to the alleged favouritism shown towards PTI Chairman Imran Khan by the judiciary and the establishment, Zardari highlighted the difference between his domicile and Khan’s. He accused the judiciary of bias in favour of Khan.
Zardari also revealed that he inferred from the body language and conversation of General Qamar Javed Bajwa with local journalist Hamid Mir that the general could impose martial law. He claimed that he had advised Bajwa to take over, but also warned him of the consequences of riding a lion, stating that it was easy to ride but hard to get down. The General then stepped back, he added.
